Where Can I Get an Amazing Beach Experience in Nigeria?
It is interesting how most people seem to know many things about Nigeria but do not often recognize Nigeria as one of the numerous African countries that can offer an amazing beach experience. In recent times and even before, people usually celebrate Nigeria’s political strength, diversity, cultural heritage and economic contribution to Africa but not really talk about her beaches and their beauty. Are you curious about whether Nigeria has beaches with fun and exciting activities? Well, you have your answer in this article as this article would highlight fun things you can do at a beach and Nigerian beaches that offer an exciting and amazing beach experience.
Fun Activities to Do When Visiting A Beach in Nigeria
One thing you should know is that most of the beauty spots in Nigeria are beaches scattered across different parts of the country. To make things even better, Nigerian beaches have a loving and happy aura around them, keeping visitors quite comfortable and relaxed. There are several fun activities that you can do when visiting the beach. They include:
- Taking a walk: Before you argue that strolls and walks can be boring, taking a stroll on a beach differs from a regular hike on a normal. There is always this tranquil and peaceful atmosphere that automatically puts you in a good mood at all times.
- Horseback riding: I think my only horseback moments and memories happened on the beach and it is usually what I look forward to when visiting a beach. Riding a horse at the beach is one way to spice up the hours you would spend at a beach.
- Biking: Another amazing way to have fun while you are at the beach is to ride a bike on the soft sands of the beach shores. Trust me when I say you will enjoy this activity whenever you try it.
- Play beach games: You can also have an exciting time at the beach especially if you are in a group or with a number of people by playing beach games. You can try games that would involve working together as a team, like beach volleyball or beach football.
- Go on boat rides: Personally, I feel that a beach experience would be incomplete without having to somehow interact with the water and the aquatic life. Going on boat rides is an easy and safe way to spend some time on the water for lovers of water and share good stories and laughs with fellow tourists like you.
Where Can I Get an Amazing Beach Experience in Nigeria?
Several beaches in Nigeria can give you an unforgettable beach experience. Usually, your exciting experience doesn’t just come from the activities available in these places alone. But rather, the scenery, serenity, tranquil waters and green vegetation combined with certain fun activities adds up to giving you a memorable beach experience. Here are a few beaches where you can have fun and create happy memories in Nigeria:
Elegushi Beach
When most people think of beaches in Lagos, Elegushi Beach is one of the first places that comes to mind, mainly because of the bubbling nightlife on the beach and its environs. One thing that sets this beach apart is that it provides a rare view of the Atlantic Ocean with a blend of the subtly harsh Lagos feel and ambiance, sure to excite Nigerians and foreigners alike. If you want to begin an adventure involving Nigerian beaches, I suggest you start from Elegushi Beach.
Also, if you are a fan of outdoor night parties with loud music, plenty of booze, and excited new faces, Elegushi Beach is the place to be, especially during festive seasons like Christmas and New Year. It is, however, a private beach, so there is an entry fee for children, adults, and groups.

 Calabar Beach
Compared to beaches in Lagos, Calabar Beach is quite unpopular due to the distance, but it is one beach you won’t be quick to forget once you visit. Such is possible because it offers a rich blend of adventure and solitude, first with its breathtaking views and then the various activities for visitors to enjoy. There are several restaurants and bars where you can get the best Nigerian cuisines and spirits and local markets for amazing souvenirs
Adventurous visitors can also go parasailing, jet skiing, diving, snorkeling, and windsurfing while surrounded by green vegetation and nature’s beauty. You can also take a melancholic jog down memory lane as there is a monument created in honor of slave trade victims.

 Ibeno Beach
One of the first things that struck me when I visited Ibeno Beach was its beauty. The water is so clear and almost reflective, while the white sands are soft and smooth to touch. Its serenity is also something that you will find fascinating, especially if you are a writer or poet. Another thing I found really beautiful is the hospitality of the people living around the beach.
Amazingly, Ibeno Beach is not only a pretty place but also has various fun activities for visitors, like swimming, diving, jet skiing and surfing. If you are considering a beach to relax and rejuvenate during your vacation, I recommend Ibeno Beach.
Address: Ibeno Local Government, Akwa Ibom state.
 Tarkwa Bay Beach
Nothing prepared me for the level of fun I had the first time I visited Tarkwa Bay Beach. Of course, I had heard stories, but the experience was way more exciting and memorable. Tarkwa Bay Beach is one of the several beaches in Lagos, which, despite being popular, can be a great place to spend some time alone and enjoy quiet time.
Interestingly, there are still several activities that can bring out the screamer in you. You can rent a bike and go quad biking. You can also choose surfing or jet skiing if you love water. There’s also a volleyball court for you and your loved ones to bond over a game. Interestingly, the artificial beach is located near the Lagos harbor.
La Campagne Tropicana Beach
I had my second beach experience here, and up till now, I haven’t forgotten how amazing it was. If fun was a place, then it would be La Campagne Tropicana Beach, as there are several activities designed to keep all classes of visitors happy and excited. As a huge lover of this beach, I’d love to recommend some activities that I think you would personally enjoy.
First of all, one of the activities I enjoy is swimming as the beach waters are always quite chill and fun to wade in. You can also go fishing in the area around the shores. Don’t just expect a robust catch as fish are usually small in size and number. For people who just want to stay close to the water and bask in its beauty, you can go canoeing.
